Only The Blues

by A. Gerber

I left Chicago as a baby child
Came back to check it out for a while
Things sure did change
Only the blues remained the same

Had a fine woman there, she loved me body and soul
Then out of the blue her fire went cold
It sure seems a shame
Only the blues remain the same

And sometimes I wonder if I’m wasting my days
Singing these tunes a hundred different ways
Now I may go insane
But the blues remains the same

There’s a change in the people, places and things
A change from autumn to winter to spring
And sometimes the sun shines high in the sky
But sometimes it rains
Only the blues remains the same

Now someday this man behind the piano’s gonna drop dead and die
I don’t care or even wonder why
’cause I could use a change
Only the blues remains the same

I could use a change
Only the blues remains the same
