The Animals Are Acting Strange
By A. Gerber & P. Wiggins
I woke up this morning
Rooster pecking on my head
Said he was king of the coop
By sundown I’d be dead.
I said, “Rooster don’t fight it
It’s just better when you crow.”
He said, “I finally kicked the habit
I wanted you to be the first to know.”
Well I don’t mean to alarm
But I can’t deny the change
Down here on the farm
The animals are acting strange
The animals are acting strange
I stumbled outside
Was the middle of the night.
The cows were playing horseshoes
And the pigs were all in flight.
Please Mr. president
Deploy the National Guard.
Something nasty’s goin’ on here
Right here in my barnyard
Well I don’t mean to alarm
But I can’t deny the change
Down here on the farm
The animals are acting strange
The animals are acting strange
My best friend, the dog, said
It’s too late for old tricks
I got to bring a new game
To jump into the mix.
I looked into the mirror
Came face to face
With the craziest critter
In this whole damn place.
He struts on two legs,
Serenades the moon
But he’d kill his own brother
For another silver spoon.
Well I don’t mean to alarm
But I can’t deny the change
Down here on the farm
The animals are acting strange
The animals are acting strange
Down here on the farm
The animals are acting strange.
