Principal Responsibilities: The Stamford JCC Performing Arts Department is seeking a passionate and talented individual to join our dance faculty for the start of the 2023-2024 season. Styles of instruction include Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, and Creative Movement. Additional styles of expertise are welcomed! Applicants must have a passion for working with children, with strong skills in choreography and direction. The Dance Associate would assist and lead projects supporting the function and accessibility of the Performing Arts department and the Jr Dance Company. The Stamford JCC provides a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all people — applicants from all backgrounds are welcome! Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of 20 direct service hours (teaching, coaching, rehearsing, directing) per week Co-direct, choreograph, and lead rehearsals for the Jr. Dance Company Assist in overseeing operations for performing arts programs, including classes, camps, clinics, workshops, recitals, performances, and productions Coordinate and lead projects to support the department's function and accessibility Choreograph and teach original material for dance productions and Jr. Company performances Assist the Director of Performing Arts with upcoming productions, recitals, and events Attend all Performing Arts staff meetings and events Create and record content for social media posts Other duties as assigned by the Director of Performing Arts, Senior Director of Programming, and JCC CEO Workdays include at least one weekend day weekly (e.g., Tuesday - Saturday) during the school year; summer schedule shifts to Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of successful teaching experience in performing arts or student teaching in a university setting Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred, or 3+ years of professional dance experience Strong background in dance technique, with 10+ years of training Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by events Excellent collaboration and communication skills Ability to liaise professionally with parents and students Proficiency in multiple dance and theatrical techniques, including but not limited to Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Acting, Voice, Tech. Additional skills are a plus.
