|
Alan Gerber is a stunning entertainer, who has performed with Bob Dylan, Leon Russell, Janis Joplin, BB King, Jeff Beck and more. His energetic performance is appropriate for venues of every size; from theaters and clubs to intimate house concerts where the audience can literally reach out and touch him. His instrumental versatility spans boogie-woogie piano to acoustic and slide guitar to fiddle and button accordion. His vocal style and original music have a roots/blues and rock/folk flavor that delight music fans of all stripes.
Alan extends his years of training and practical experience as a working musician to that of teacher and guide through workshops. The idea is to demystify the skill of learning how to play music and compose your own songs, focusing more on intuition than lessons. Alan’s presentation is high-energy and keeps everyone focused, featuring his own songs, as well as those of his musical colleagues over the years. He is equally inspirational for young elementary students, university music majors and teachers and administrators.

I just spent ten days in Florida, doing shows, writing new music and visiting friends. My dear friend and writing partner, Patrick Wiggins, is aware of my passion for helping kids integrate music into their lives. It has often been my saving grace and I feel that it is a valuable resource for others to explore as they grow up.
Whole Child Leon is an organization that supports children in Leon County, Florida. Courtney Atkins, executive director of Whole Child Leon, and Patrick organized a workshop for me to give to their local group. We talked about our shared love of music, not being afraid to just pick up an instrument and start playing, and everyone had the chance to try their hand at the fiddle. We all had a great time, many thanks to those who helped make it happen and congratulations to this wonderful group of kids. I hope we have the opportunity to do this again.

For the eleventh year in a row, Alan Gerber put on magical Father’s Day concert at the Rankin Gallery, accompanied by his enormously talented offspring, Eli and Hannah. Alan is the only performer we have back every year and there is a reason for this. His concerts are wildly popular – the man’s ability to entertain a sold out crowd with his killer piano playing, his huge expressive voice and his dynamic personality is truly amazing. We have already booked him for next year!
