Water Under Wind

I heard my daddy scream
loud and mean
over nothin’.
A boy who lost his dream
he was sad
he was somethin’.
I learned to watch his life.
I had to watch his life
My eyes changin’
like water under wind.
Water under wind.
I heard my mama cryin’
held her hand
eased her tears.
I heard my mama dyin’.
She was frail
from her years.
I learned to watch her life.
I had to watch her life.
My eyes changin’
like water under wind.
My life changin’
like water under wind.
Water under wind.
The days are flyin’ by.
Now I’m slowin’ down.
Reaping the harvest
of seeds I’ve sown,
seeds that have grown
under sun, under water
under wind.
I hear my brother’s plea
for peace
for food.
I hear my sister’s need
for her fair share
of what is good.
I’ve learned to watch our lives.
I have to watch our lives.
My eyes changin’
like water under wind.
My life changin’
like water under wind.
Our eyes changin’
like water under wind.
Our lives changin’
like water under wind.
Water under wind.
Water under wind.
Like water under wind.
Like water under wind.
